A bit about the role

At Stegra, we’re not just building a plant, we’re proving that sustainable industry is possible. And to do that, we need people like you.

You will belong to one of our key departments Hot Mill, Meltshop, Caster, DRI or Hydrogen plant depending on your skills and operational needs.

As a process operator you will be responsible for monitoring, controlling, and optimizing the rolling process. The goal is to produce high-quality steel products. Your work requires technical competence and attention to detail to ensure that production is efficient, safe, and of the correct quality. You will frequently collaborate with other departments such as quality control, production, and maintenance. Together, you will work to optimize processes and ensure smooth and efficient production.

This is a technically challenging and highly responsible position, where your focus will be on maintaining a smooth production flow while upholding the highest safety standards. You will work with advanced systems and precision equipment, collaborating with skilled colleagues in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. What you’ll do

  • Control, operate, and service the equipment and processes in our production ensuring safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment
  • Handle, transport, and process products and materials
  • Verify, document and enter data
  • Use central control panels and field instruments to control and adjust process parameters
  • Take proper action when having failures and deviations affecting the production, report these as well as participate in root cause analysis to solve the issues.
  • Take responsibility to contribute to a safe work environment actively participating in the development and upkeep of process control and safety practices as well a robust safety culture.
  • Work with continuous improvement for the shift team.
  • Assist team members with daily operations and participate in rotation of work duties to develop the competence within the shift team.

What you’ll bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Documented qualifications in workplace safety (e.g., OSHA, confined space work, working at heights).
  • Experience in developing work methods and participating in development projects.
  • Hot work certification.
  • Additional certifications (e.g., driver's license, forklift certification, crane operator certificate, welding certificate) are an advantage.
  • Good knowledge of English; basic knowledge of Swedish is a plus.
  • Driver's license B.

About Stegra

Stegra is on a mission to change the global steel industry by producing green hydrogen, iron, and steel - with the goal of eliminating CO₂ emissions. Instead of coal, we use green hydrogen and fossil-free electricity, meaning our primary emissions will be water and heat.

By 2030, our ambition is to produce 5 million tonnes of green steel annually in our fully integrated, digitized, and sustainable plant in Boden, Northern Sweden - currently under construction.
