Gemkom Engineering and Machinery Filial is a newly established branch of the Turkish company Gemkom. It is a leading engineering and manufacturing company that operates in a number of areas and in various ways within the steel industry.

We are participating in a project where Stegra AB establishes a steel mill in Norra Svartbyn in Boden where steel will be produced through an almost fossil-free process using hydrogen gas. Our mission is, among other things, to install machines used in steel production and includes work in mechanics, electronics and plumbing.

We now want to employ a Structural Steel Team Leader. The work tasks may include but are not limited to:

Job Description

• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and project specifications.
• Supervise and coordinate the activities of structural steel erectors, welders, and helpers.
• Oversee the lifting, positioning, and securing of structural steel components, including beams, columns, and frames.
• Ensure all structural steelwork is aligned, bolted, and welded according to design requirements.
• Monitor project progress, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.
• Conduct safety briefings and enforce proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Inspect steel structures for alignment, stability, and compliance with safety regulations.
• Work closely with engineers, project managers, and crane operators to ensure efficient workflow.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to steel erection.
• Maintain records of work performed, materials used, and safety procedures followed.

Desirable qualifications (not mandatory)

• 5 years of experience in structural steel erection, preferably in industrial plants, power & heat, oil & gas, or petrochemical projects.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Ability to read and interpret structural blueprints and technical drawings.
• Expertise in steel erection, bolting, welding, and alignment procedures.
• Skilled in using hand and power tools, including grinders, cutting torches, and measuring equipment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• In-depth knowledge of industry safety standards, including working at heights and fall protection systems.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet strict project deadlines.
